The Newport Beach Public Library has a long history of being an integral part of the Newport Beach community. The Central Library and its three branches, Mariners, Corona del Mar and Balboa, offer a diverse range of informational resources, public services and programs for every age group. The Newport Beach Public Library, ranked as one of California’s best, annually hosts over 1.2 million visitors to enjoy books, DVDs, audio books and other materials, as well as the library’s computer services, music and art events, literary lectures, and children’s programs. In spring of 2013, a 17,000-square-foot addition to the Newport Beach Central Library will be completed, linking the Central Library and the new Civic Center together with a bridge featuring a café and Wi-Fi lounge area on the top level and a media lab and conference room on the lower lever. The expansion project will also add more space in the Children’s Room, additional study areas, reading rooms and second floor restrooms.
