Coolest Pools in Newport Beach for Local Summer

The Coolest Pools in Newport Beach

It’s officially local summer, which means the crowds have dwindled and there’s no better time to explore the city of Newport Beach! While our coastal haven is famed for its stunning beaches and rolling waves, a day spent poolside can’t be beaten—especially if it’s at a luxury resort. Ditch the worries of rip currents, big waves and sand in your car and gear up for a sun-soaked day by the pool. We’ve rounded up eight pools in Newport Beach perfect for local summer. Don’t forget the SPF!

The Coliseum Pool at The Resort at Pelican Hill

Possibly one of the most stunning properties in Southern California, this Tuscan-inspired resort sits on 504 acres of coastline and boasts an assortment of luxury amenities for every type of traveler. From the state-of-the-art Pelican Hill Golf Club to an abundance of places to stroll, dine and sip, it’s no wonder this sumptuous resort has a five-star reputation. And to nobody’s surprise, it has a pool that fits right in with the rest of it. Take a dip in The Coliseum Pool, a Roman-style oasis that features a radiant blue bottom made of 1.1 million hand-cut glass mosaic tiles. As you gaze out onto the ocean, you’ll quickly remember why you booked your vacation here.

Pendry Newport Beach

The newest addition to Newport Beach’s portfolio of hotels, Pendry Newport Beach is a stunning, urban-chic destination full of world-class amenities. The pool deck, while not huge, is well-appointed, with shady cabanas and cushioned lounge chairs, perfect for a day of lounging and catching some rays. Tree Shack Pool & Bar serves up thirst-quenching cocktails and local brews, along with poolside bites like birria tacos, local tuna and coconut ceviche and a roasted jalapeño Caesar salad. At night, guests can take a dip in the hot tub, which sits adjacent to a crackling outdoor fireplace.

VEA Newport Beach

VEA Newport Beach made a splash on the Newport Beach scene when it officially opened its doors in the spring of 2022. Formerly the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa, this stunning property underwent a complete rebrand that included several renovations—one of those being its pool deck. VEA now features a destination pool experience like no other, with cabanas and an outdoor bar that overlooks the golf course. This striking pool design not only lends itself to captivating views but it was built to resemble the Newport Beach Pier!

Lido House

With its prime location on the Balboa Peninsula and its coastal, Cape Cod aesthetic, Lido House has made quite a name for itself in terms of vacation destinations. This stylish Newport Beach hotel features everything from a signature restaurant (The Mayor’s Table) and a rooftop bar (Topside) to a palm tree-lined pool deck. Your best bet? Order your cocktail of choice, snag a lounge chair and spend the day soaking up the sun poolside. You’ll love everything about this scene, including the plush chaises, canvas umbrellas and combination of olive trees and swaying palms. This Newport Beach pool deck is lined with bricks, giving it that East Coast vibe we all know and love.

Balboa Bay Resort

In search of some poolside fun for both kids and adults? Head to the beautiful Balboa Bay Resort! This stunning hotel sits on fifteen pristine acres of bayfront property, offering a little something for everyone. When you’re not playing in the bay, spend some time at this pool in Newport Beach and let the kids splash and play. The pool deck features lounge chairs, daybeds and private cabanas, making it perfect for families. Each cabana comes equipped with a TV and can accommodate up to six adults and two children. And when the kiddos get hungry, head over to the pool bar for some snacks (and adult beverages!).

Newport Beach Marriott Bayview

With local summer comes a change of pace. Crowded beaches and jam-packed hotels can be overwhelming during peak season, but during the fall months, Newport Beach Marriott Bayview is a sweet escape. This all-suites hotel is surrounded by acres of natural beauty and boasts a pool that overlooks the calm waters of the Back Bay. Head down for a day in the sun or make an evening trip to the jacuzzi to catch a dreamy Newport Beach sunset!

Hyatt Regency Newport Beach

With its lush grounds, three pools and abundance of kid-friendly activities, the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach remains a staple vacation spot for families. The property’s three sparkling pools—Indulge, Serenity and Oasis—offer three distinct spaces for different types of travelers. Adults can relax at the Indulge pool or enjoy a moment of peace and quiet at the Serenity pool during local summer while the kids splash, play and zoom down the winding waterslide at the Oasis pool. The Hyatt Regency Newport Beach is truly a place for everyone.
