If you’re like me, you watch a lot of home renovation TV shows. It’s great to spend 30-minutes sitting on the sofa and watch a house that looks pretty undesirable morph into a beautiful piece of art.

Well a pretty amazing transformation has just been completed at the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach, where I recently took a stroll to check out the extensive $15 million renovation.

It is stunning.

I don’t usually think of hotel lobbies and chic and comfortable, but I was amazed when I walked into the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach.

Many people dream of having this kind of comfort at home! With a sprawling living area, inviting bar, and cozy nooks — like the library, Hyatt Regency Newport Beach has really dialed it in.

I loved their sitting area that’s just inside the door.

People-watching is a favorite pastime of mine, and the one thing I repeatedly noticed was that everyone I saw looked comfortable and relaxed.

It really didn’t matter if they were watching TV, curled up with a book in the library, having a cold one at the bar, or coming in from one of the three pools.

All of the sudden I was envious of these vacationers. They looked like they were at home, yet they looked so stress-free and so comfortable.

I guess that’s what Hyatt means when they say they’ve created a resort for your lifestyle.

If there was something enthralling on the TV, I could have sat with a blanket and a comfy pillow and sprawled out on one of their sofas.

For the first time, I found a lounge where I really wanted to lounge.

The hotel’s three pools also have a new feel, with one that’s very family friendly (complete with waterslide), another that was hip with a mixture of adults and kids, and a contemporary pool that leaned towards adults only (the official branding of that takes effect in a few months.)

My kids would love the waterslide, but one thing they’d probably like more, is the fingertip service via app.

With the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach’s new mobile app, anyone can order service to any location on the property.

If I’m in my room, I use the app to order a sandwich. If I’m lounging at the pool, I might use the app to order a cocktail.
The app is a total continuation of the traditional high-class room service offerings from the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach.

You can even use the app to order from the delicious menu at new SHOR restaurant.

A hotel representative told me that the app launched in time for highly anticipated annual Hyatt Regency Newport Beach Summer Concert Series, which attracts thousands of guests, both locally and from afar, to the property each summer.

With a few shows left in the series, I might have to bring the family down for one final salute to summer vacation.
