4 New Additions to Newport Beach This Summer
Newport Beach is always leveling up its impressive selection of places to dine, shop and stay, and this summer is no exception! New restaurants are popping up all over town—from the charming Balboa Island to the bustling Balboa Peninsula. And with Pendry Newport Beach gearing up to welcome guests, summer ‘23 is bound to be one for the books. Here’s the full list of what’s new in Newport Beach this season!
Set to open its doors in late summer, Pendry Newport Beach will seamlessly embody the unique charm of Orange County. With an unmistakable Pendry touch, this sky-high hotel blends coastal elements with contemporary flair for a laid-back sense of opulence. The stunning property has taken over what used to be the Fashion Island Hotel, meaning guests will be just steps away from some of the best shopping and dining destinations in Newport Beach.
Opening on July 27, Palmilla Cocina y Tequila will bring an elevated Sonoran- and Baja-inspired dining experience to the Balboa Peninsula! The restaurant’s original flagship location resides in Hermosa Beach, and the owners are excited to expand into a new seaside community. Palmilla Newport was designed by award-winning architect and designer Gulla Jónsdóttir, who drew inspiration from coastal destinations like San Jose del Cabo and Tulum. Guests can look forward to vibrant Mexican dishes and the biggest selection of tequilas and mezcals in OC!
A locally-loved eatery in Laguna Beach renowned for its sushi and Asian fusion delicacies, Starfish, recently unveiled its second location on Riverside Avenue in Newport Beach! The new venue showcases a menu rooted in culinary traditions, offering an array of sushi rolls, handcrafted dumplings, Thai curries and more. With a generous selection of over 70 shareable plates, complemented by a range of exotic sake concoctions and an extensive wine list, Starfish Newport Beach is already making waves.
Balboa Island’s charming collection of restaurants is welcoming a new addition! Mercado Taco Shop is set to open this summer on Marine Avenue, bringing delicious Mexican eats to one of Newport Beach’s most beloved neighborhoods. Diners and island dwellers can expect a menu of regional Mexican cuisine and craft cocktails similar to its sister store El Mercado Modern Cuisine in Santa Ana. An opening date has yet to be announced, but eager foodies can check the restaurant’s Instagram account for updates!
