Can you hear me now?

Can you hear me now?  Join us as Dr. Sirovic discusses how ocean noise varies across the Pacific Ocean and what it means for whales, fish, and other sea life that rely on sounds for fulfilling their biological needs.

Many marine organisms produce a large variety of audible, as well as infra and ultra-sonic sounds.  With the increase in human use of the ocean, background noise levels across these waters continue to grow.  This increase may have important ramifications on marine life that use sound to navigate, find food, mates and more!

Ana is a researcher at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, where she received her PhD, and her primary research expertise lies in the area of marine bioacoustics.  She focuses on the use of acoustic methods and technologies to better understand endangered marine species and commercially important fish.
