On Tuesday, March 3rd, one of the biggest names in Italian winemaking, Gaia Gaja, will host an intimate Three-Course Luncheon & Wine Pairing event at Fashion Island’s California-inspired Italian restaurant and wine shop, CUCINA enoteca Newport Beach. Wine enthusiasts have a rare opportunity to meet one of Italy’s star producers and sample varietals from the famed family-run estates of GAJA in Piedmont and Ca’Marcanda in Tuscany. GAJA is widely credited with revolutionizing the Italian wine industry and fifth generation vintner Gaia is eager to share anecdotes about her family’s rich winemaking heritage at the exclusive luncheon.
Upon arrival for the special event, guests will be treated to a glass of Brut Prosecco Superiore NV and Lobster Pittule Canapé before taking their seats on the outside garden patio to enjoy an artfully prepared menu by Chef Brent Omeste; the dishes are carefully paired with the 2012 Vistamare Ca’Marcanda, 2011 Sito Moresco Langhe and 2011 Barbaresco DOCG, the flagship wine that has been produced since GAJA’s founding in 1859. Throughout the meal Gaia will discuss details and tasting notes of the selected wine pairings — an assortment of which will be available for purchase afterwards in CUCINA’s towering wine shop.
