Sonder is pleased to present Some Still Wonder, a solo exhibition by Willie Wayne Smith. We invite you to join us for the opening on Friday, 25th of April from 6-8pm in the presence of the artist. The exhibition will run through May 25, 2025.

At the heart of Willie Wayne Smith’s painting lies a quiet but poignant search for meaning through the everyday. His work invites viewers into a contemplative space where scraps of visual culture—bits of paper, tape, glitter, stencils—are assembled into intricate trompe l’oeil compositions that feel both deeply personal and universally resonant.

Beneath the surface, Smith explores themes of memory, impermanence, and transcendence, using ephemeral, often overlooked materials to gesture toward something much larger: a collective longing for connection and significance. His aesthetic mimics the visual noise of contemporary life—layered, textured, and almost plastic in its perfection—yet it’s also meditative, echoing the tension between the fleeting and the eternal.

The exhibition will run from 25 April to 25 May, 2025.

Opening hours: Sonder is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10-6pm. Gallery visits between Monday and Tuesday are also available by appointment.
