Sunday Musicale FEATURES HARPIST CRISTINA MONTES MATEO

The Newport Beach Public Library presents a Sunday Musicale with award-winning harpist Cristina Montes Mateo on Sunday, March 25 at 3 p.m. in the Central Library Friends Room, 1000 Avocado Avenue, Newport Beach, CA 92660.

Recognized as one of the leading harpists of her generation, Cristina Montes Mateo is currently Solo Harpist at the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana in the Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofía, an orchestra created by Lorin Maazel and conducted by Zubin Mehta, Valery Gergiev and Riccardo Chailly. She has also been Principal Harp with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Her recital at the Newport Beach Public Library will feature works by Spohr, Guridi, Grandjany, Saint-Saëns, Godefroid, Gombau and Falla.
A sought-after teacher, Cristina heads the Harp Department at the Conservatorio Superior de Música “Joaquín Rodrigo” of Valencia (Spain). Her 2017 engagements included performances at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Auditorio Nacional de Madrid and Hollywood Bowl.

Admission to the Sunday Musicales is free. No registration is required. Seating is first-come, first-served, limited by room capacity.
