An Unmatched Experience

6 Ways to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Newport Beach

Nothing says St. Patrick’s Day like rowdy pubs and pints of Guinness. And if you’re looking for a jolly good time, you’ve come to the right place! Newport Beach is home to a handful of hoppin’ bars and Irish pubs that’ll have you saying “Sláinte!” So throw on your greenest ensemble and prepare for some good old-fashioned fun this St. Paddy’s Day. We’ve rounded up six bars for a shamrockin’ good time. It’s time to test your luck (and your tolerance). Cheers!

Luck of the Irish St Paddy’s Pub Crawl

For those looking for the full St. Paddy’s day experience, buckle up because Newport Beach‘s annual Luck of the Irish St Paddy’s Pub Crawl is back! This event will take place on Saturday, March 16 and will lead imbibers on a festival bar crawl through Newport Beach. The crawl will hit popular hotspots like Baja Sharkeez, Stag Bar & Kitchen and Malarky’s Irish Pub, and participating pub-crawlers will have access to exclusive drink deals throughout the night. There’s no better way to pretend you’re Irish for the day. Click here to register!

Muldoon’s Irish Pub

It’s not St. Patrick’s Day without a trip to Muldoon’s. And this March, Muldoon’s is featuring an exciting lineup of live bands, so you and your pals can jig to good music all month long. But remember, before you get too shamrock’d, be sure to fill your belly with some hardy bites like Muldoon’s pub nachos, shepherd’s pie or traditional corned beef and cabbage. There’s no shortage of tasty Irish pub grub at this local watering hole, and lucky for Paddy’s Day partiers, Muldoon’s will be open at 7 a.m. on March 17, and barhoppers can expect bagpiper performances starting at noon!

Malarky’s Irish Pub

On the hunt for a stiff whisky cocktail and some live tunes? Malarky’s has you covered this St. Paddy’s Day in Newport Beach. Brimming with Irish hospitality, this local pub’s 40-year tradition lives on with themed beverages and bites that are sure to keep you fueled and buzzed during the day’s festivities. Malarky’s will be open and celebrating early on March 17. Prepare your bellies and livers, ye green beer drinkers!

Shamrock Bar & Grill

This no-frills watering hole situated on PCH is home to an assortment of Irish beer and Irish drink-slingers! Guinness? Check. Irish Coffee? Check! How about good ol’ Irish whiskeys? You bet. Shamrock serves up everything from frothy pints of Guinness to creamy Irish coffees. Stop by this spot for a midday beer break and a more mellow vibe without deviating from the St. Paddy’s Day buzz.

Helmsman Ale House

As one of Newport Beach’s best beer breweries, it’s no wonder Helmsman is a popular spot for an afternoon pint. This St. Patrick’s Day, you can enjoy craft beer and tasty bites inside at the bar or on the expansive patio. Feast on pub grub like Helmsman’s Bavarian Pretzel with fried thyme, IPA cheese sauce and spicy mustard—a crowd favorite. Or, split some snacks with your crew like the Short Ribs Sampler, Spicy Fried Pickles or Cast Iron Skillet Cornbread with honey butter.

Mutt Lynch’s

Known for its hefty schooners and bustling beachfront location, Mutt Lynch’s is easily one of the most popular spots for some festive day drinking. And despite the bar’s renovation in 2022, Mutt’s famous dive bar ambiance remains. Stop by and order a schooner of your favorite beer and snack on bar bites like chicken tenders, garlic knots, nachos and fried dill pickles. Stay tuned on Instagram for Mutt Lynch’s St. Patrick’s Day food and drink specials.
