NBRA Ushers in a New Era of Leadership Amidst Changes in its Organization

Newport Beach, CA (September 28, 2016) – Established 21 years ago, The Newport Beach Restaurant Association (NBRA) continues to thrive under fresh leadership and a newly implemented association structure. As an official business improvement district (BID) of the City of Newport Beach, the NBRA not only guides the marketing and promotion for the local culinary community, but also provides support and advocacy for its restaurant operators.

“We are proud to represent the Newport Beach foodservice industry,” said Ron Schwartz, newly inducted NBRA President. “With over 400 restaurants and eateries included, no other city has a restaurant BID with the magnitude of involvement that we do,”

The recently installed 2016-2017 NBRA Board of Directors includes:
• President: Ronald Schwartz, Muldoon’s Irish Pub
• Vice-President: Christopher Roman, CUCINA Enoteca
• Treasurer: Dan Miller, The Village Inn
• Secretary: Jordan Otterbein, A Restaurant and A Market
• John DeFrenza, Crocker’s “The Well Dressed Frank”
• Mario Marovic, Dory’s Deli, Malarkey’s Irish Pub and Stag Bar + Kitchen
• Bruno Massuger, Back Bay Bistro
• Matthew Meddock, Sessions West Coast Deli
• Catherine Pavlos, Provenance
• Brendon Salisbury, The Cannery Seafood of the Pacific and El Cholo

After an extensive evaluation process conducted over the past two years, the NBRA has implemented long overdue changes in its stakeholder structure to better reflect the local community of foodservice businesses in the City of Newport Beach. Unanimously approved by City Council this month, the updated NBRA specifies its BID businesses as full service restaurants, fast casual eateries, markets serving prepared foods, bakeries, juice bars, dessert stores, coffee shops and catering companies. The new structure also removed businesses from the BID that do not benefit from its marketing efforts such as gas station mini-marts and private clubs.

NBRA launched its Dine Newport Beach marketing program two years ago, and has had great success in not only showcasing the Newport Beach dining scene, but also promoting the local restaurants, bars and foodservice businesses to diners throughout Orange County. “Dine Newport Beach continues to inspire and educate local foodies about all of the great dining options in our city,” said Michelle St. Amour, Marketing Manager for Dine Newport Beach. “We look forward to spotlighting the wide variety of unique dining experiences during Newport Beach Restaurant Week in January.”
