NEWPORT BEACH, CALIF. (September 23, 2021) – The Commodores Club of the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce today announced this year’s theme for the 113th Annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade. The iconic event returns Dec. 15-19 for its 113th year, inviting visitors and participants to “Jingle on the Waves.”
In less than three months Newport Harbor will turn into a winter wonderland for five spectacular nights as nearly 100 beautifully decorated yachts and boats of all sizes set sail along a 14-mile parade route. This year’s festival theme holds a special honor, as the first community selected theme in the Parade’s history, submitted by Newport Beach local, Amy Senk. Amy spent years trying to think of the perfect theme for submission, when ‘Jingle on the Waves,’ came to her. Amy remarked of her winning entry, “When I tried to come up with additional themes, I always failed,” she said. “It’s harder than it sounds, and as it turned out, apparently ‘Jingle on the Waves’ was the perfect theme all along!”
Steve Rosansky, President, Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce reflecting on both the theme and this year’s parade, said, “After this past year, we are all eager to celebrate the positivity, happiness and excitement of the season, and to welcome the return of a beloved Newport Beach tradition, made even more special with our first-ever community selected theme,” he said. “We look forward to gathering together once again to safely celebrate the season and the spirit of our great city.”
“With less than three months until this year’s Christmas Boat Parade and an official theme selected by our own community, the excitement for this year’s event is more palpable than ever,” commented David Beek Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade Committee Co-Chair and member of the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce Commodores Club. Additionally, Larry Smith, Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade Committee Co-Chair and fellow Club member shared, “On behalf of the entire committee, I must say it was a challenge to select only one of the many wonderful themes submitted as part of this year’s contest, alongside our residents, but we think ‘Jingle on the Waves’ calls to mind exactly what we’re all looking forward to this year: the return of a fun, festive and extra-bright display that’s become one of our City’s signature events.”
