The Ultimate Spring Itinerary for a Weekend of Luxury and Relaxation
When it comes to leisure and luxury, you know that no vacation is complete without a bit of both. And while Newport Beach may be known for its laid-back surf culture, there are plenty of renowned restaurants, high-end shops and five-star hotels to experience. Sure, you’ll want to stick your toes in the sand, but you know there’s more to a seaside getaway than time at the beach. With that said, we’ve pieced together an exceptional itinerary for a luxurious spring escape!
3 p.m. Check-In to Luxury
Situated on 504 acres of stunning coastline, The Resort at Pelican Hill is barefoot luxury at its very best. With a slew of posh amenities, this five-star resort is a must-stay for those in search of an upscale getaway. Every aspect of Pelican Hill is Tuscan-inspired—from the architecture to the pristine landscaping, making a true “escape” for all who visit. Spend an afternoon at the beautiful on-site spa, tee off at the world-class Pelican Hill Golf Club or take in panoramic ocean views as you sunbathe by the famous Coliseum Pool. You’re sure to feel spoiled the minute you arrive!
10 a.m. Set Sail in Style
Take advantage of the harbor’s calm waters with a morning boat ride! Whether you prefer to cruise on a private yacht or you enjoy the challenge of sailing, the ways to get out on the ocean are endless! For a more romantic experience, book your very own private gondola ride with Gondola Adventures, Inc. This local boating company offers a variety of cruises that are both romantic and relaxing (we love the Amore Cruise!) Sip back and relax as your gondolier navigates the glistening water of the bay.
1 p.m. Shop Seaside
Few destinations that feature world-class shopping and ocean views, but believe it or not, Newport Beach’s Fashion Island effortlessly offers both. This shopping mecca sits on a hill that overlooks the coast and is home to a variety of name-brand stores, local boutiques and renowned restaurants! Sit down to lunch at Fig & Olive for some Mediterranean fare or Sushi Roku for a selection of fresh sushi, then do some shopping at stores like Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Vuori, St. John and more!
3:30 p.m. Spend an Afternoon on the Sand
Below The Resort at Pelican Hill sits Crystal Cove—one of the most beautiful beaches on the West Coast. This stretch of coastline is distinguished as a National Natural Landmark and features three miles of pristine shoreline. If you’re looking to stick your toes in the sand, be sure to check out the resort’s Crystal Cove Beach Experience. Their complimentary coach service will transport you down to the sand and set up beach chairs and umbrellas for you. You can even have a picnic lunch prepared by the resort’s on-site Caffè & Market!
6:30 p.m. Dine With a View
There’s no better way to end your day than with a decadent dining experience. Newport Beach’s abundance of world-class restaurants may make it hard to choose where to spend your evening, so we’re here to help you narrow it down! If it’s old-school charm you’re after, The Dock is a great pick with its waterfront location and continental fare. If you prefer a more modern culinary experience, we recommend heading to Lido Marina Village, where you’ll discover a handful of harborside restaurants that serve up everything from seafood to seasonal delights. Our go-to? Nobu Newport Beach for their Black Cod with Miso and a refreshing martini.
