Where to Get Fresh Oysters in Newport Beach

Oysters In Newport Beach

With its coastal location, it’s no surprise Newport Beach is a haven for fresh seafood. And when it comes to oysters, there’s a plethora of places to indulge in these sea-to-table delicacies. And as they say, they’re best devoured during the months that end with an “R.” So get ready to savor this fall—we’ve rounded up 9 of the best fish houses in Newport Beach that’ll cure your oyster cravings!

Fly ‘N’ Fish Oyster Bar & Grill

Located just a few blocks from the Newport Beach Pier, Fly ‘N’ Fish is a casual hotspot with some seriously upscale eats. Enjoy views of the ocean while you snack on a half dozen of fresh Pacific oysters served with lemon and a raspberry mignonette. You can even order a Pacific oyster shooter and add a shot of pepper-infused vodka or 100% agave tequila!

Bluewater Grill

After a multimillion-dollar renovation, Bluewater Grill is officially back open for business! This Cannery Village restaurant has its own fishing boat, so you know their fish is wild-caught and fresh. We love the Oyster Rockefeller, which comes with four oysters and is baked with creamed spinach and melted romano cheese.

The Cannery Seafood of the Pacific

Another local restaurant with its own fishing boat, The Cannery, offers a wide selection of seafood specialties like grilled octopus, calamari, crab cakes and cioppino. But if you’re feeling fancy, stop in during sunset and order a glass of bubbly and half dozen oysters for a little slice of heaven.

Gulfstream

A cozy spot with an upscale vibe, Gulfstream is the perfect place to post up and enjoy some oysters. Snag a seat on their outdoor patio, which features a handful of fire pits, and share a bottle of one of their California wines while you slurp down some shucked-to-order oysters from the North Pacific.

21 Oceanfront

With ocean views that just won’t quit and an esteemed menu of seafood and steaks, it’s no wonder the 21 Oceanfront has remained a culinary staple in Newport Beach. This restaurant sits just steps from the sand in the historic McFadden Building, offering stunning views of the water. Order a half dozen of seasonal oysters, perfectly paired with tangy cocktail sauce.

Newport Landing

After an afternoon in Balboa Village, drop anchor and head upstairs to Newport Landing’s iconic Oyster Bar. Here, you’ll find a selection of fresh seafood along with craft beers, local wines and tropical drinks. Order the chargrilled oysters, which come with two oysters grilled in shell, herb butter and parmesan.

Hook & Anchor

With everything from creamy clam chowder and crispy calamari to decadent lobster rolls, this local fish and lobster house is a must-stop when on the Balboa Peninsula. And on Monday through Friday, from 3-5 p.m., diners can enjoy fresh oysters a la carte for just $2 a piece!

The Crab Cooker

The Crab Cooker may be renowned for its famous red clam chowder, but there’s plenty more to sink your teeth into at this local joint. Revel in an ocean breeze as you snack on oysters (offered October through April) which come served on a skewer with bacon! There’s no better spot for a midday bite!

Circle Hook Fish Company

For delicious sea-to-table bites like Thai coconut clams, fish and chips, oysters on the half shell and wonton poke tacos, grab a table at Circle Hook Fish Company. Located in the charming Lido Marina Village, this laid-back bayside restaurant serves sustainably caught seafood, including fresh oysters. Sit down with a crisp glass of white wine as you watch the boats cruise by.
