Cheers to 120 Years of Welcome!

To honor 120 Years of Newport Beach, Bar Pendry at Pendry Newport Beach has introduced a special bar menu featuring four handcrafted cocktails, each inspired by a distinct era in the city’s sun-soaked history. Available all year long, this limited-time collection invites guests to take a nostalgic journey through Newport Beach’s past.

Bootlegger aka Reverse Martinez 24

This cocktail marks Newport Beach’s earliest chapter, when the town incorporated in 1906 and quickly became a bustling beach destination, complete with seaside entertainment and the iconic Balboa Pavilion drawing visitors from near and far. The “Bootlegger” pays homage to the clandestine, spirited culture of the Prohibition era through a reimagined Martinez. Traditionally enjoyed in hushed speakeasies, this reverse Martinez evokes the ingenuity of early 20th-century mixology while celebrating Newport’s spirited beginnings as a place built on welcoming guests, even when alcohol was outlawed elsewhere.

Ingredients: Navy Strength Gin, Sweet Vermouth Blend, Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur

French 120 aka French 75 23

As Hollywood discovered Newport Beach and the city evolved through mid-century growth, from Navy ports to yacht-club retreats, glamour and sophistication became synonymous with Newport Beach culture. The “French 120” blends that golden-age elegance with a modern edge, transforming the classic French 75, originally gin-based, into a vodka-forward toast that reflects Newport’s elevated coastal lifestyle during some of its most iconic decades.

Ingredients: Brugal 1888 Rum, Vanilla-Banana Hennessy Cognac, Brown Butter Champagne Cordial, Chandon Sparkling Wine

The OC aka Long Island Tea 22

In the late 20th century, Newport Beach entered pop culture consciousness like never before, amplified by shows like The O.C., which introduced a new generation to Orange County’s surf, sunsets, and social scene. “The OC” cocktail channels the era’s vibrant energy with a hip, contemporary twist: a Long Island Iced Tea clarified with milk punch, smooth, memorable, and undeniably Southern California cool. This drink captures the fusion of laid-back beach vibes and cocktail culture that shaped Newport Beach’s modern identity.

Ingredients: House-made Coke Syrup, Kuleana Agricole Rum, Belvedere Vodka, St. George Botanivore Gin, The Lost Explorer Tequila, Alma Finca Liqueur, Coconut Milk

Newport Gold Standard aka High Ball 25

Today, Newport Beach stands at the forefront of luxury coastal travel, a place where refined tastes meet effortless California cool. The “Newport Gold Standard” reflects the destination’s current era of elevated experiences. A tequila-forward highball that marries the crisp simplicity of a ranch water with the bright soul of a margarita, this cocktail embodies the upscale yet relaxed lifestyle that defines the Newport Beach of the 2020s.

Ingredients: High Proof Patron Tequila, Matcha Syrup, Frangelico, Milk
