Memorial Day Dining in Newport Beach
Memorial Day and BBQ go hand in hand like summer and beach days, and both are near! To kick off the summer season, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite places to grab a burger, hot dog, beer and slow smoked meats to celebrate the best time of year!
Crocker’s, The Well Dressed Frank
What’s more “backyard BBQ” than hot dogs and hamburgers? Without the hassle of firing up the grill you can stop in to Crocker’s, The Well Dressed Frank and grub on high quality hotdogs and hamburgers piled high with all the fixings. Try their Wet & Wild Chili Dog made with a juicy frank, chili, bacon, cheddar, and onions all piled on a plain bun. Or, a classic Big & Juicy Frank with mustard and a plain bun. Request a burger at the BBQ? Try the Frank’s Big Beef, or if you’re on a veggie kick, the Save-a Cow Veggie Burger! Don’t forget fries, onions rings, chili cheese fries AND deep fried zucchini!
First of all, is it even a summer BBQ without the beer? Newport Beach Brewing Company practically screams summer with the abundance of beer they brew in-house using the three ingredients that make beer: barley, hops and water! Try their Newport Beach Blonde for a nice crisp and refreshing taste, or get a little hoppier with their Blood Orange IPA brewed with local blood orange! Also, this IS a restaurant so order a sandwich, burger or an over the top pizza to pair with those craft beers.
If you’re craving classic BBQ but don’t want to attempt the process yourself at home, Balboa Bar-B-Que is the place for you! Enjoy slow smoked meats you find in Texas like beef brisket, baby back ribs, and pulled pork. Balboa Bar-B-Que also offers those dang good BBQ sides like coleslaw, potato salad and mac n’ cheese. Grab your gingham picnic blanket, fresh lemonade, and take this all to go for a yummy BBQ picnic on the beach!
Memorial Day celebration doesn’t just have to be about grilling up some beef. Gulfstream is the perfect place if you’re looking for some fish and crisp wines to ring in the start of summer. They offer the freshest fish and North Pacific oysters shucked to order. Try some hardwood grilled trout or Vince’s Fried Shrimp. But if you are more of a terrain eater, they offer USDA Prime Filet Mignon as well as a juicy classic cheeseburger with freshly ground chuck steak. Wash it all down with a bottle of bubbly on the lovely outdoor patio, and cheers to the start of summer!
With an extensive menu of burgers, salads, sides, milkshakes, cocktails and beer, Hopdoddy is the place to celebrate Memorial Day! Known for their fresh baked bread, daily ground meats, hand-cut fries, they support local purveyors and have scratch made sauces! Alright summer, we are SO ready for you with burgers, fries and and ice cold beer!
