Pet Friendly Hikes & Parks in Newport Beach

Castways Park

Newport Beach offers several pet-friendly hikes and parks for you to spend a socially distanced summer afternoon while exploring the great outdoors. You and your pet can indulge in a brisk walk, a longer run, or a fun game of fetch with these four local options below. As always, ensure your dog remains on a leash when required and you are properly ridding of their waste.

Castaways Park

This leisurely walking trail offers breathtaking views of Newport Back Bay and Newport Harbor from above. Grab your pooch and wind down your day with a sunset walk along the paved path, admiring native plant communities and enjoying the ocean breeze. If you are looking for a longer trek, the Back Bay Loop Trail is a 10-mile trail that loops around the bay.

Inspiration Point

Along the shores of Corona del Mar State Beach is a pet-friendly park called Inspiration Point. It is a popular spot to see the Pacific Ocean in all its glory. Walk your dog along the boardwalk or enjoy a few games of fetch on the grassed areas. Parking can be found on Ocean Boulevard or any adjacent side street.

Newport Beach Dog Park

The Newport Beach Dog Park can be found on next to the Newport Beach Civic Center. It contains a fenced-in area for your dogs to run free and artificial turf for easy maintenance. This dog park has a good reputation for attracting friendly dogs but offers separate areas for both big and small dogs, if needed. Best of all, you have a beautiful view of the ocean!

Newport Beach Oceanfront Boardwalk

The Newport Beach Oceanfront Boardwalk is a great option for beginners, whether the beginner is you or your dog. The 3-mile multi-use trail offers level pavement with a front-row seat to the ocean shores.
