NEWPORT BEACH blog

An Unmatched Experience

Making Memories that Span Generations

Building sandcastles with my parents, exploring the Balboa Fun Zone with my cousins, catching up with my grandparents at the beach house on the boardwalk.  These are my memories of summer. Newport Beach was the perfect backdrop for my family gatherings.  Days and nights were filled with fun, creating memories that will last my entire life.

Newport Beach provides something for everyone, making it great for all the generations in your family.  Here are some tips on how to please everyone during your Newport getaway!

Spend the night in Newport Beach!

Check in at one of the many family friendly hotels.  From pools and waterslides to parks and movies, lots of hotels are family ready!  Do not forget to ask about connecting rooms in case grandma and grandpa want to stay nearby, or dad and mom want some time alone.

Staying in a vacation rental is great option for those looking for a homier feel.  With options ranging from condos to beach houses touching the sand, you can find the perfect size to fit your entire family.

Eat breakfast on the beach!

Improve the most important meal of the day with an ocean view.  Beachcomber Cafe or Ruby’s Shake Shack in Crystal Cove have views of one of Newport’s pristine beaches.  Or sit above the waves at Ruby’s Diner on Balboa Pier.  As a bonus, both locations offer pleasant coastline spots to walk of that extra pancake when you finish.

Relax along the Coast!

No trip to Newport is complete without spending some time at the beach.  Grab some beach chairs and towels, and claim your spot along the Pacific Ocean.  Family members wanting to relax can enjoy a book under an umbrella or catch some color in the sun.  Those wanting to brave the ocean should grab a boogey board for extra wave adventures.

Explore Balboa Island!

Another must-see spot for the whole family is Balboa Island. Take the ferry to discover plenty of restaurants to grab a meal and boutiques to shop.  For dessert, be sure to get a Balboa Bar, vanilla ice cream perfectly dipped in chocolate and your choice of toppings.

Play at Balboa Village!

From riding the Ferris wheel to watching the sailboats, Balboa Village has a bit of everything.  The rides at the FunZone are fun for the youngest in your group and those young at heart.  When your feet get tired, the benches along the harbor provide a great view of the passing boats.  If you want to get out in the water, hop on a guided cruise and learn all about the harbor!  You can also learn more about the science of the ocean at ExplorOcean.

Indulge at Fashion Island

Head to Fashion Island for a nice dinner the whole family can enjoy at one of their many restaurants or the food court in Atrium Court.  The restaurant options are only dwarfed by the number of shops, and all of the outdoor space provides something for those who may be less interested in shopping.

While you are there, check out the Visit Newport Beach concierge desk in Atrium Court.  They have lots of information about Newport Beach activities.  The options in Newport Beach are endless, and the friendly concierges will help find a perfect fit for your family.

My personal favorite way to end the day? Head back out to the ocean after the sun sets.  With the cool sand under your feet, you can look out at the immerse ocean and reflect on the wonderful day with your family!
