Fashion Trends for Spring 2015
Although it might feel like spring here in Newport Beach, we actually have a couple more months to go. But what do we wear in this fickly climate? Local boutiques are starting to receive the new season so why not start the spring shopping process now. I’ve complied a short list of trends for spring 2015, some are new and some are conveniently carried over from the last season, which is great for extending you much coveted but rarely worn winter wardrobe.
Nothing says spring like a pastel palette. Unfortunately, for some it conjures up memories of girlhood frills that doesn’t quite inspire. This spring, head to a local favorite Bardot, to create pastels into crisp ensembles that are as home in the office as they are at stylish brunches with good friends. One of the easiest ways to introduce this trend into your wardrobe is with skinny jeans, a silky top or a ladylike handbag; paired with sleek, feminine closet staples or toughen this trend up with edgy accents.
Rethink what you thought about bohemian fashion. It’s not just for the music festival types, everyone can benefit from this style from flowy blouses to a bright colored midi skirt to gladiator sandals, and Z Collection is just the place to pick some up. The new boho look for spring 2015 came courtesy of many designers who sent soft floor-sweeping dresses down the runway; or got creative with funky prints; and some who dressed their models in hippie looks with a twist.
Fringe was all over the runways this last fall, and we can’t stop wearing it! Whether it’s the frayed edges of a sweatshirt, hanging from a handbag or a full skirt that’ll update the ’20s flapper trend or blend into the 70’s trends we’re seeing more of this season, Shop A’marees for these attitude-filled pieces that are a great way to inject some movement without going overboard.
Florals for spring isn’t a ground breaking notion, and Newport’s newest boutique Laguna Supply will be carrying a variety of these tried and true closet staples we rely on so much when the weather warms up. They exude a feeling of fresh air and rebirth. They bring us out of the grays and blacks we counted on all winter long, by brighten up our attire and maybe our attitude; and no matter what your style is, you should make room for them in your wardrobe.
Heavy fabrics aren’t exactly desirable during the summer. But, for spring (and fall!) a suede frock is a perfect transition piece. Check out Sadie Slick for everything leather and suede, they’ll be carrying these wonderfully unexpected, luxe, easy to pull off, and versatile pieces. But stick with muted colors for spring like sea foam, ice blue, light grey and pink.
