The first official day of summer is just a few weeks away, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome our favorite season in Newport Beach! There’s something about those endless beach days, boating adventures and stellar sunsets that never get old. If you couldn’t tell, we love where we live, and whether you’re a Newport native or just stopping by, our coastal city has so much to offer this June. From the renowned Subaru Newport Beach Jazz Festival to the Annual Balboa Island Parade, here’s what to look forward to this month!
Subaru Newport Beach Jazz Festival 2024
Ocean views, food trucks and all that jazz! The Newport Beach Jazz Festival is back, bringing its captivating performances to the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach. This highly anticipated event will run from May 31 through June 2 and will feature a legendary lineup of jazz musicians, composers and rising stars. Come celebrate the genre’s rich history on the beautiful Back Bay as artists like Babyface, Norman Brown, Erin Stevenson and more take center stage. This three-day event will be one for the books with a vibrant vendor village full of art, apparel and food and drink vendors.
8th Annual Newport Beach Wooden Boat Festival
Set sail on a maritime adventure at the 8th Annual Newport Beach Wooden Boat Festival taking place June 7-9! With exceptional vessels on display, you’ll have the opportunity to vote for your favorite. But it’s not just about the boats—the festival will have everything from delectable cuisine and live music to exciting activities that will keep you entertained throughout the day. This year’s theme is “The Art & Craft of the Wooden Boat,” which celebrates the intricate craftsmanship, creative artistry and enduring beauty of wooden boats.
Summer Concert Series at VEA Newport Beach
Revel in the summer vibes at VEA Newport Beach with a concert series under the sun! This ongoing live music event will kick off on June 23 from 4-6 p.m. with country music star Drew Baldridge. Enjoy fantastic food and drink specials and breathtaking ocean views from VEA’s new Sunset Lawn. 29th Annual Balboa Island Parade
Slip on your cowboy boots for the 29th Annual Balboa Island Parade on Sunday, June 2. In tribute to Jimmy Buffett, this year’s theme is “Balboa Island in Paradise” and both participants and spectators are encouraged to don their best island attire. The parade will begin on Marine Ave, and a festive after-party will follow featuring Mark Wood and the Parrot Head Band. This annual island tradition is always one for the books with decorated golf carts and floats, horses, vintage cars, marching bands and more.
57th Newport Beach Art Exhibition
Attracting artists from far and wide, the Newport Beach Art Exhibition offers a coveted platform to showcase their original artwork, which features a multitude of mediums, including oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolor, charcoal, pen and ink, sculpture, photography and mixed media. Set to take place on June 29 at the Newport Beach Civic Center, this event will kick off with the Art Exhibit and Sale (1-6 p.m.) with an honorary awards reception at 4:30 p.m. Don’t miss your chance to purchase a masterpiece from one of these talented artists!
