6 Romantic Spot to Watch the Sunset This Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and if you’re looking for a special way to celebrate with your other half, this is for you! Not every year has to feature an extravagant dinner date or gourmet box of chocolates. There are plenty of ways to wow your significant other and spend quality time together, so we’re highlighting our favorite one! Newport Beach is no stranger to stellar sunsets, and if you’re looking for a place to cozy up with your boo and watch the sky change colors, we’ve got you covered. Here are six spots to catch an amazing sunset this February in Newport Beach.

Balboa Pier

One of two piers on the Balboa Peninsula, the Balboa Pier offers a picturesque vantage point for lovebirds who want to take a stroll. Walk along the pier hand in hand, watch the surfers catch their last waves, and soak in the stunning views of the sandy shoreline. After the sun sets, enjoy a date night together at one of the many restaurants that line the boardwalk, or grab a drink at one of the local beachfront bars.

West Jetty View Park

Located at the very end of the Balboa Peninsula, West Jetty View Park is a scenic spot adjacent to The Wedge—a famous surf spot in Newport Beach known for its towering waves. Grab some grub from a local takeout spot (locals love Laventina’s pizza), then grab a seat on one of the benches during golden hour. From here, you and your s/o can take in views of the boats passing by as the sun sets on the horizon.

Inspiration Point

Nestled in the charming enclave of Corona del Mar, Inspiration Point sits high atop a bluff and boasts panoramic views that span the entire Newport Coast, reaching out to its iconic pier. Whether you choose to settle on a bench, explore the hidden paths down to Pirate’s Cove, or lay a blanket on the sands of Little Corona, Inspiration Point is where golden hour dreams come true. It doesn’t get more romantic than this!

Pelican Point

In the heart of Crystal Cove State Park, Pelican Point stands as a majestic lookout, offering unobstructed 180-degree views of the pristine Newport coastline. A journey to this circular platform rewards visitors with a bench and a vista that together create the perfect setting for watching the sky perform its evening ritual. Bring a picnic basket of your favorite snacks, cozy up and enjoy the view.
