Newport Beach Makes a Spectacular Return to the 2024 Rose Parade®
As America eagerly anticipates the 135th Rose Parade on Jan. 1, 2024, Newport Beach is set to make a remarkable comeback! We are excited to announce our participation in this iconic event with a float that celebrates the rich heritage of Newport Beach and the spirit of the Rose Parade. We hope you tune in to KTLA 5 on New Year’s Day to watch the parade live!
A Historic Return with a Tribute to Local Traditions
After an 18-year absence, Newport Beach returns to the Rose Parade with “Jingle on the Waves,” a float that embodies the city’s vibrant community spirit. This entry not only honors the Rose Parade but also pays a unique tribute to the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade, creating a festive parade within a parade. The design features landmarks like the Fun Zone Ferris Wheel and the Balboa Pavilion, topped with a stunning 20-foot Christmas tree. Adding a regal touch, five former Rose Queens from Newport Beach will adorn the float.
Deep Ties Between Newport Beach and the Rose Parade
The connection between Newport Beach and the Rose Parade extends beyond this year’s participation. Historically, Rose Queen candidates were often brought to Newport Beach’s Balboa Bay Club, cementing a longstanding relationship. Additionally, the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade took inspiration from the Rose Parade in its evolution, notably in the introduction of a Grand Marshal.
A Celebration of Music and Unity
Aligned with this year’s theme, “Celebrating a World of Music: The Universal Language,” Newport Beach’s entry in the Rose Parade is a tribute to the unifying power of music and community. As the parade winds its way through Pasadena, Newport Beach‘s “Jingle on the Waves” will stand out as an ode to the city’s festive spirit and rich cultural history.
