The Perfect Super Bowl Weekend Itinerary

December 17, 2022

Whether you’re a Newport Beach local or coming in from out of town, our coastal city is the ideal place to spend Super Bowl weekend. Get your dose of vitamin sea this February and gear up to play by the bay with us! From making waves in an electric boat to bellying up to a local bar to catch all the action, this Super Bowl weekend itinerary is the perfect game plan.

STAY

Score big this weekend by staying in one of Lido House’s custom-designed private cottages! Each of these spacious bungalows has its own unique charm and can sleep multiple guests if you’re planning on bringing the whole crew. Book the Bay Cottage, which features two bedrooms, a fully-equipped kitchen, a rooftop terrace and plenty of living space to kick back and relax. We also love the Harbor Cottage, which sleeps six and has a full kitchen and cozy living room—perfect for an intimate Super Bowl watch party.

DINE

Newport Beach is home to an array of locally-owned restaurants and sporty hotspots, and when it comes to game day, we know just the place(s)! For a rowdy vibe and tasty pub grub, we recommend snagging a table at Helmsman Ale House, Stag Bar + Kitchen or Mutt Lynch’s to watch the game. However, if you’re looking to keep things a little more low-key this year, Muldoon’s Irish Pub, Tavern House Kitchen + Bar and The Village Inn are all popular locales for quality food and drinks.

DO

When it comes to entertainment, there’s no shortage of things to do in Newport Beach. During your stay, hop aboard an electric boat for a day on the water, or rent electric bikes and zip around town. There are also several stellar shopping destinations in Newport Beach for a little retail therapy if that’s more your style. Hit the shops at Lido Marina Village, where you’ll find labels like Jenni Kayne, Eberjey and Faherty, or stop by Fashion Island for an expansive collection of name-brand stores. Other popular activities include golfing, whale watching, hiking and exploring neighborhoods like Corona del Mar, Balboa Island and Mariner’s Mile.

DON’T MISS

During your weekend, you’ll want to experience one of Newport Beach’s most popular activities: docking and dining! Rent a boat from one of our city’s many rental companies, and after some time spent cruising the bay, pull up to one of the bayside restaurants, like The Cannery Seafood of the Pacific, Billy’s at the Beach or A+O Restaurant | Bar. You can even dock at the Balboa Fun Zone and ride the Ferris wheel or pull up to Balboa Island for some shopping on Marine Avenue!
