Featuring intimate performances by eclectic jazz ensembles, acclaimed singer-songwriters and world-class musicians, the Summer Concert Series at the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach is an essential summer attraction for locals and visitors alike. Kicking off July 12 and held every Friday night throughout the summer at the beautiful Back Bay Amphitheatre, this year’s lineup features the likes of Boz Scaggs, Common, Kenny G and more. It’s also worth noting that before each show, attendees get to indulge in delicious cuisine from SHOR, the hotel’s signature restaurant.
Sunset Jazz at Newport
If you’re looking for the ultimate combination of ambiance and entertainment, Sunset Jazz at Newport provides an unforgettable experience, complete with delicious food, wine and stunning ocean sunsets. Each Wednesday night from July 10 to September 18, guests can soak in the lush atmosphere of the Rose Garden at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa while enjoying captivating shows from revered jazz groups of all sorts, including The Jazz Cruise and The Tom Kubis Big Band. Fun fact – 2019 marks the event’s 10th anniversary and is slated to be the most exciting year yet.
Concerts on the Green
For the many luxurious musical happenings around Newport Beach this time of year, there is never a shortage of concerts made for lettin’ loose and dancing the night away. From contemporary country-pop to ‘80s rock anthems, the Concerts on the Green summer series at the Newport Beach Civic Center Green is the perfect place to have some family-friendly fun. This year’s lineup is loaded with original groups and cover bands that will have both parents and kids singing out their karaoke dreams. Before the concert, stroll 1.23 miles of walking trails around the sculpture exhibition which is the city’s largest display of public art, all situated in serene native gardens.
Live Music Around Tow
In addition to the lengthy lineup of popular performers around the city this summer, there are numerous local venues offering top-notch live tunes nearly every night of the week.
Bayside Restaurant and 21 Oceanfront both offer a pleasant mix of jazz, R&B and folk to accompany their incredible menus. The Blue Beet and Billy’s at the Beach are just two of the many other hotspots for great food and good vibes, the latter of which specializes in island-inspired, tropical sounds. Another solid option for live music is featured at Lido Marina Village every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday afternoon on the Lido Deck.
