Seasonal Beers in Newport Beach

As summer comes to an end, a common theme here in SoCal is everybody asking “When is it going to cool down?” or “Why is it still 80 degrees in October?”

When the leaves begin to change, we all have the desire for those crisp fall mornings and cozy evenings when we can finally light a fire. Since our “seasons” here in Newport Beach aren’t quite as colorful as other parts of the country, we’re focusing on the fun seasonal beers that you can find all around town this fall! We’ve hopped (get it?) our way through a few Newport Beach hot spots, seeking out the best seasonal brews… from Oktoberfests to IPAs! Here we’re sharing some of our favorite spots to order a beer that is sure to bring the fall to you. Cheers!

Back Bay Tavern
While one may be reluctant to believe that some of the best beers in town are in the back of Whole Foods – trust us. Back Bay Tavern, located inside Whole Foods Market at Fashion Island, has one of the best beer selections in all of Newport Beach. WIth 24 taps that rotate through local and organic
craft beers, you can always find something tasty (And a great happy hour too!).
Our Fall Picks: Alaskan
Imperial Pumpkin Porter or Bell’s Oktoberfest

Lido Bottle Works
Not only does Lido Bottle Works have an extensive beer selection, but they also have arguably the best location. Set right on the water in Lido Marina Village, this is a must visit if you haven’t been yet. A hip, trendy vibe, incredible food, and an insane selection of beer (more than 25 IPAs). We’ll be back for more Pumpkin Chai Cider (And the LBW Burger!).
Our Fall Picks: Little Bear IPA or Pumpkin Chai Cider

Newport Beach Brewing Company
A classic spot for a brew, Newport Beach Brewing Company, has been delivering solid craft beers to Orange County for over 20 years. They take pride in their beer, as they have been to beer competitions around the world – and have received multiple accolades! The fact that they are the only brewery on this list that brews their own beer makes it worth a trip. Enjoy!
Our Fall Picks: Green Room IPA

Royal Hen
Another hidden gem, Royal Hen is an upscale gastropub that always delivers good craft beers. The selection is normally small, but very well curated. You can trust that what they have on the menu is quality. Not to mention – The Royal Hen has the fall atmosphere we cherish: moody lighting, warm atmosphere, and great people all around. Perfect for a date night, a solo night at the bar, or just getting into the rhythms of fall. During the holidays, it’s a great spot to go before walking around (bring a jacket) and looking at the insane holiday decorations on Balboa Island!
Our Fall Picks: The Hop Concept Citrus & Piney IPA or Anderson Valley Rye Barrel Stout

SideDoor
The iconic, English-style gastropub is a favorite among locals, and anybody looking for a restaurant with a cozy atmosphere (especially around the holidays!). SideDoor is a perfect place to relax on an overcast day, and there are always surprising and interesting beers to choose from. Our favorite part about SideDoor is that you can build your own flight of 4 oz tastings – It’s the best way to sample their constantly rotating selection of beer!
Our Fall Picks: Three Weavers Knotty Double IPA or Build Your Own Flight (they have a variety of IPAs and Oktoberfests at the time of writing, but it’s always changing!)
