5 Reasons to Attend the 2022 Newport Beach Film Festival
Attracting more than 60,000 film fans each year, the Newport Beach Film Festival is recognized as one of the country’s largest luxury lifestyle film festivals. This cinematic celebration is set to take place from October 13-20, 2022, and will feature over 350 films from around the globe. Spotlighting everything from documentaries and shorts to full-length dramas, you won’t want to miss this iconic Newport Beach event! With that said, we’re spilling the tea on what to expect at this year’s festival.
Independent and International Films
After approximately 3,000 submissions, the Newport Beach Film Festival has selected just over 300 films to spotlight during this year’s event. Attendees will have the opportunity to view everything from features to shorts! To kick off the eight-day festival, a showing of “WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story,” written and directed by Eric Appel will take place. On closing night, a screening of “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” from Netflix will be shown.
Opening Night Gala at Fashion Island
Following the screening of “WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story,” guests can attend the renowned Opening Night Gala at Fashion Island. This special event will feature signature tastings from more than two dozen of the area’s top restaurants, a hosted bar sponsored by Tito’s Handmade Vodka and a sneak peek performance from the Broadway production of “Moulin Rouge! Honors and Variety’s “10 Actors to Watch”
On Sunday, Oct. 16, the festival will host its annual Honors and Variety’s “10 Actors to Watch” programs at the beautiful Balboa Bay Resort. The annual celebration will spotlight both industry legends and rising stars, like Kerry Condon, known for her roles on “Better Call Saul” and “Ray Donovan,” Joseph Quinn, a fan favorite in season four of “Stranger Things,” and Zen McGrath, best known for his title character in “The Son.”
Parties, Entertainment and Culinary Offerings
Aside from various screenings, this year’s festival will feature an abundance of entertainment. On the schedule of events, you’ll find a variety of after-parties featuring top performers and tastings prepared by award-winning local restaurants. And don’t miss out on the Sunset Food & Wine Series, taking place on Oct. 13, 14, 17, 18 and 19 at various locations in Newport Beach!
