Celebrate Oktoberfest in Newport Beach
Beer lovers rejoice, it’s that time of year again: Oktoberfest is coming. Well, it’s the time of year when Oktoberfest comes to America, anyway.
Contrary to popular belief, Oktoberfest is traditionally celebrated primarily in September.
Lucky for you, our local celebrations of beer and other German gifts to the world, like the soft pretzel and bratwurst, are still to come. Newport Beach is host to several of these joyous events.
Here’s your guide to Oktoberfest in Newport:
SideDoor – Oktoberfest Tap Takeover (9/21-10/7)
Corona Del Mar’s English gastropub will be hosting Oktoberfest celebrations featuring German beers from the famous Hofbrau and more; plus foods such as schnitzel, wurst, and strudel. Or as Sidedoor calls it, “fine swine and craft brews.”
Five Crowns – Porktoberfest (10/11 @ 6:30PM) If the pun doesn’t get you, the five course plated meal with beer pairings from Firestone Walker just might. Enjoy a “pork-centric” evening at Corona Del Mar’s upscale English restaurant, and SideDoor’s fancy big sister. Reservations recommended.
Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort – OCtoberfest (Saturdays and Sundays from 9/29-10/21, Noon-8PM)For a truly Oktoberfest experience, visit Newport’s Back Bay for OCtoberfest, a fun-filled, festival atmosphere with German and local craft beer, traditional inspired foods, music, and more. For pricing, parking and other transportation information, visit their website.
“Beer is proof God loves us and wants us to be happy.”
Though Oktoberfest is a decidedly German celebration, it was Benjamin Franklin who so notably said, “Beer is proof God loves us and wants us to be happy.” So do your forefathers proud and enjoy a beer or two in Newport Beach this October.
