From movies on the sand to live music by the bay, these seasonal events are sure to add some fun to your calendar. So slip on your flip-flops and slather on the SPF—we’ll see you by the shore!

Summer Movies on the Beach

Catch a flick this summer at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & MarinaNewport Beach’s family-friendly waterfront resort on the Back Bay. Combining cinema and the beauty of nature, Newport Dunes’ Summer Movies on the Beach series is the perfect way to spend a summer evening. This resort transforms its sandy shores into an outdoor theater under the night sky, bringing a curated selection of classic blockbusters, animated favorites and feel-good films. Bring your chairs and blankets, cozy up under the stars and enjoy cult classics and crowd favorites on the big screen. Stay tuned for this summer’s 2023 movie schedule, which will be announced soon!

Hyatt Summer Concert Series

Situated on the beautiful Back Bay, the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach is a coastal resort with three pools, lush grounds, outdoor fire pits and an endless array of family-friendly activities. And this summer, even if you’re not a guest of the hotel, you can enjoy a live music lineup of talented artists, such as American singer-songwriter Michael Franks, world-renowned violinist Damien Escobar, GRAMMY-nominated singer Chris Isaak and more. This season-long event will kick off with Michael Franks on June 23 and will run through October; to purchase tickets or a season pass, click here.

Tunes at the Dunes

Get ready to groove by the bay! Held at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina, Tunes at the Dunes is a free summer concert series that features a variety of genres, including country, rock, pop and blues. From May to September, on select summer holiday weekends, locals and visitors can bring their own beach chairs and listen to live music on the sand! These concerts will also feature food trucks and full bars for those 21 and up. Come celebrate the season with family and friends, and don’t forget to let the kiddos check out the resort’s inflatable waterpark!

Live Music at Lido Marina Village

Known for its collection of charming shops and hip restaurants, Lido Marina Village is a one-stop shop when it comes to entertainment. One could easily spend a whole afternoon here, and with live music every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 12-3 p.m., you can get your shopping done and spend the rest of the day relaxing to an acoustic set! Take in views of the boat-filled harbor from the Lido Deck, grab a bite to eat from one of the center’s restaurants and listen to the sounds of local artists—the perfect afternoon if you ask us.
